NYC's Soho is a neighborhood that inspires us, that we love and that we like to get lost from time to time. And we do not want to miss the opportunity to release this blog, explaining a bit of the history of that New York neighborhood so that you can also understand our philosophy and way of doing things.
At the beginning of the 19th century New York's Soho was a residential neighborhood, until the population began to move to the northern part of the city. Later it was transformed into an industrial area, and even saw its existence threatened with the project of a highway that would cross it and that finally was not carried out by political pressures.
In the 60s and 70s, some artists began to use the old warehouses and industrial warehouses as studios due to the wide range of spaces they offered and their low price, and that is how the characteristic lofts or open spaces of SoHo emerged.
When the neighborhood became so fashionable that it began to be very unusual and became expensive, the SoHo effect occurred. The artists left the area and searched for new stores in other nearby districts, SoHo finally becoming one of the most exclusive places in the city, ideal for fashion addicts, good hotels, exquisite architecture and art galleries.
The southern part of the neighborhood still retains a bit of the artistic spirit of a few decades ago and we can find some artists selling their works on the street.
Undoubtedly a curious place to visit and walk, as long as we do not mind doing it through streets infested with tourists. Very interesting the set of 26 iron blocks declared historic district in 1973.
Well, with this mixture of bohemian, modern and quality spirit born the idea of creating Little italy restaurant in Barcelona. Visit NYC!
